STAKEHOLDERS

The success of our sustainable development policy is directly linked to our continuous dialog with suppliers, customers, the general public and institutions.

Global Compact

Malongo has been a part of the Global Compact since 2001. The UN Global Compact is a strategic United Nations policy aiming to encourage businesses that are committed to sustainability and corporate citizenship. Malongo is also active in developing this policy within the PACA region, through its participation in several local initiatives.

Customers and suppliers

Malongo has been publishing an annual sustainable development report since 2005, sending it to its customers and suppliers, aiming to establish dialog and transparency. This interaction is particularly rich with the firm’s suppliers, given that Malongo gives priority to products and production practices which are more environmentally friendly while producing the same product quality (ecolabel products, certified companies…).

General public

By creating its training department in 1992, Malongo has developed initiatives that are aimed at the general public in order to develop more knowledge regarding coffee growing issues: quality, production ethics and coffee's cultural dimension. These numerous initiatives mainly concentrate on sustainable coffee trade development options: Visiting the Malongo factory, symposiums, creating the National Competition for Young Coffee Professionals, events held during the annual manifestation entitled “Quinzaine Nationale du Commerce Equitable” (French fair trade event), training in catering schools, publishing educational documents, an annual design competition.

Regional and national action

Besides being a part of the Global Compact and the Max Havelaar coffee label, Malongo is a member of the IMS Entreprendre pour la Cité initiative. Malongo also participates in the FEEF (Federation of French Businesses and Entrepreneurs) sustainable development group in order to share its innovative practices with other businesses. It also grants its financial support to several other initiatives.
