IntroductionJoint initiatives with France Haiti Partage

Malongo has been involved in many programmes helping populations earning a living from coffee in countries to the south for more than twenty years.

In 1997, Malongo worked with the singer Wes Madico on a project aiming to boost coffee growing in Cameroon. Malongo provided technical and social assistance while committing to the sale of quality coffee.

In December 1998, cyclone Mitch devastated Central America. For one month, Malongo dedicated two francs for every kilogram of coffee sold via large supermarkets to assisting coffee growers: 300,000 francs (46150 euros) were paid to Secours Catholique.
In January 1999, Malongo created the "Coffee by small growers" programme, certified by Max Havelaar. This coffee has seriously taken off, establishing solid fair trade principles with the Uciri community in Mexico.

2001 was dominated by the launch of the Haiti project, which continues today. Malongo regularly reports on this project, reflecting developments.
