2009 – 15th edition of the competition

On Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd April 2009, the Lycée Hôtelier Paul Augier in Nice hosted the fifteenth final of the Young Coffee Professional Competition organised by Malongo.

Nelly Guerguy from the Lycée Hôtelier Saint Louis in Toulon won the final in the BAC/BTS category. This year, the competition was open to BEP students for the first time. Jérôme Kaftandjian from the Lycée Hôtelier in Marseilles was the first prize winner in this category. The Prize for the best Coffee Menu was awarded to Thibaut Idenn from the Lycée Hôtelier in Bazeilles, for its originality and creativity.

Regional selections singled out 30 finalists in the BEP, BAC and BTS Hôtellerie categories. They came from France and Belgium. After the first tests, 12 BAC and BTS Hôtellerie students and 3 BEP students were selected. Only the best 6 BAC and BTS students would compete in the final test: the sales pitch before the jury.

A gala dinner, given by Malongo at the Lycée Hôtelier Paul Augier in Nice, brought the two days of competition to a close. The prize winners were announced by Paola Wintenberger, from Malongo's Training Department, organiser of this 15th competition. Assisting her, Jean-Pierre Blanc, Chairman of the Jury and General Director of Cafés Malongo. The 6 finalists left loaded down with gifts.

2008 – 14th edition of the competition

On Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd April 2008, the Lycée Hôtelier Paul Augier in Nice hosted the fourteenth final of the Young Coffee Professional Competition, organised by Malongo. Michael Gallois from the Lycée de Bazeilles in the Ardennes won the final.

Regional selections singled out 29 finalists from the BAC and BTS Hôtellerie categories. They came from all over France and Belgium. To bring the two days of competition to a close, Cafés Malongo organised a gala dinner at the Lycée Hôtelier Paul Augier.
