Peru is located on the Pacific Coast of South America and has remarkable agricultural potential thanks to its wide-ranging climatic and topographical diversity. Thanks to this diversity, the country has become one of the major contributors to the fair trade coffee segment.
COFFEE GROWING IN PERU
The first coffee plantations appeared in 1740. However, the market only opened up to international trade in 1887. The full-scale coffee boom only started around 1990. Most farms are located in mountain areas, in the shade of the forest, side by side with the banana trees. The country is one of the major contributors to fair trade exports.
