The idea of a competition gradually came into being within the Training department. Bringing together the best students in France’s hotel schools, this competition takes place every year in March and April and attracts some 70 schools and more than 130 students from all over the country .

The Young Coffee Professional contest has evolved considerably since it first took place in 1995.

 

Over the years, the number of schools taking part has increased and the level of the competitors has risen considerably.

 

Regional selections are now held to satisfy the young students’ enthusiasm. Even though some of the competition’s winners have had the opportunity to join the Malongo Café team, others have opted for sales or hotel work.

 

A victim of its own success, the Young Coffee Professional’s competition is now an international event with a Chinese candidate in 2006 !


Each year, the champion wins a trip to a coffee-producing country, accompanied by their teacher.
